How Room to Read is making a difference

Girl’s Education Program

Room to Read builds sustainable and scalable girls’ education programs. The goal is long-term change based on a country’s needs. By addressing transitions into and throughout secondary school, the most permanent gaps in gender equality in education are bridged. A holistic approach involving teaching life skills, mentorship, providing materials and engaging families and the community is why Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program sees nearly 90% of its graduates enroll in tertiary education or become employed.

Literacy Program

Room to Read trains teachers and librarians, develops and provides quality reading and instruction materials in multiple languages. The Literacy Program supplements the gaps in standard literacy curriculum for millions of children worldwide and provides them with a physical place to learn.
