How TechnoServe is making a difference
Women’s Economic Empowerment
TechnoServe’s experience shows that they create a greater impact when they effectively engage and benefit both men and women.
TechnoServe is helping enterprising women in developing countries build competitive farms and businesses to break the cycle of poverty.
Our work includes an explicit focus on generating opportunities for women by connecting them to capital, networks and supply chains.
Access to Finance
TechnoServe works with smallholder farmers, farmer organizations, cooperatives, and a variety of small and growing businesses (SGBs) to increase access to finance. They help them assess, forecast and communicate their financing needs to potential lenders and investors. In parallel, TechnoServe provides advisory services to financial institutions in order to help them efficiently deploy capital and deliver new and scalable financial services.
Entrepreneurs and their enterprises come in different shapes and sizes. TechnoServe has partnered with large corporations, multilateral and governments to provide life-changing support in a variety of settings. For instance, they help young entrepreneurs in rural Africa to start a new business; they support established SGBs to accelerate their growth and impact in mining communities in Latin America; and they work with food processors in Africa to expand their business, sourcing more products from smallholder farmers and increasing supply of nutritional food in their communities.
TechnoServe is helping to build a sustainable global coffee industry that can lift millions of farming families out of poverty. For nearly five decades, they have developed a set of market-based solutions to meet this challenge and applied them in communities across Africa and Latin America. Their approach addresses four key areas: better farming, better processing, better supply chains, and better environmental and social standards.
